HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-01/29/1957 378 MEETING OF JANUARY 29, 1957 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport , on Tuesday, January 29, 1957. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Norman E. Klipp; Councilman .Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Deamrest; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Albertson; RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board; Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demearest and Councilman Albertson. Moved by Councilman .Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesdqy, February 5, 1957, at 1:30 P34- Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest; secondcdw-�y Councilman Albertson: WHEREAS, The Superintendent of Highways did on the 29th day of Jan- uary, 1957, recommended the purchase of a new sand spreader to take the place of one now in use by the Highway Department and which was purchased March 4, 19479 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways be and hereby is authorized to advertise for bids and purchase from the lowest bidder one new §ood Roads Model 10 Champion Handy 10 ft. Opreader or equal. Spreader must have flexible keyboard of tempered spring steel to permit obstacles in material to pass through, at a cost not toexceed $1500.00, one Buckeye 10 foot spreader to be taken in trade as part payment on new spreader. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman .Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS , The Superintendent of Highways did on the 99th day of Jan- uary, 1957, recommend the purchase of a new front end loader to re- place one now used by the Highways Department , which was purchased in March, 1952, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways be and he hereby is authorized to advertise for and purchase from the lowest bidder, one ne model H. M. Hough one and one half yard front end loader with four wheel drive and power steering or equal. One model H. M. Hough one end one half yard front end loader must be taken in trade as part payment on new loader. -- Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill- seconded by Justice Clark: RESODVED: That the Town 6le _-k be and he hereby is directed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install two (2) addit&onal 100 c .p. aerial street lights in the Mattituck #1 Lighting District, said lights to be placed on Poles No. 11 and No. 15 on Factory Avenue, in Mattituck. Vote of Town Board: .Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justiceu Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be instructed to transmit to the .Assemblyman the request that the Fishers Island Ferry District Act be amended so as to provide that the District may acquire , maintain, improve, repair and replace public utility distribution lines on property noW or hereafter acquired by the District; that Section 3 of the Act , relative to sealed bids be amended so as to conform with Section 103 of the General Municipal Law; and that the provisions of the Act relative to annual elections be changed to provide for the appointment of three Inspectors of Election who are not Commissioners and that the existing Commissioners cease to act as Inspectors of Election. A further request that 'the Board determine the advisability of changing the qualifications of voters was referred back to the commissioners. Demarest: WHEREAS , the Town Superintendent of Highways did, on the 8th day oiff January, 1957, duly recommend the purchase of certain equipment pursuant to the provisions of Section 142 of the Highway Law, NOW, -THEREFORE, 'BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 142 of the Highway Law the Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized to purchase , in accordance with the provisions of .Article 51A of hhe General Municipal Law, with the approval of the County Superintendent of Highways, the following: One 1957 ,International Model R-192 Dump Truck complete with One new Gatit ood Model GC2 4 yard Heavy duty dump body with Model A-50-10 ton capacity hoist, Tail Gate 6 yard capacity & 8J cab pro- tector as called for in specifications for bidders , for a maximum price of Eight thousand three hundred ni.nty-three 25/100 Dollars ($8,393 •25) , delivered at Peconic, N.Y. and to be delivered on or about Feb. 15, 1957• The Town Superintendent of Highwgys is hereby authorized, subject to the approval of the County Superintendent of Highways , to surrender to the vendor One 1951 International Model R-190 Dump Truck as part of the payment for. the above machinery to be purchased. The terms of payment will be as follows: Trade-in allowance ------- $1, 594.68 Check drawn on Machinery Fund---- 6 879 . 5Z Total --- ;3��3 .2 Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Councilman Albertson; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest.
