HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-08/22/1956-FI MEETING OF AUGUST 229 1956. The Annual Fishers Island Meeting of the Southold Town Board was held on Wednesday, .August 22, 1956. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest and Edwards; Superintendent of High- ways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth; also officials of the County and Town and a delegation of Fishers Island residents. Waiver of. notice of Town Board meeting: We the undersigned members of the Town Board of the Town of South- old DO HEREBY WAIVE NOTICE of the meeting of the Southold Town Board at the Fishers Island School House at 1:30 P.M. Eastern Daylight Saving Time, on Wednesday, August 22, 1956 and WE DO HEREBY CONSENT that such meeting proceed without notice to us. Norman E, Klipp, Supervisor Henry A. Clark, Justice of the Peace Ralph W. Tuthill, Justice of the Peace E. Perry Edwards, Justice of the Peace Louis M. Demarest, Justice of the Peace Ralph .P. Booth, Tokvn Clerk Harold Price, Superintendent of Highways Moved by Justice Edwards; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark Demarest .and Edwards. Supervisor Norman E. Klipp inquired if there were any problems the Fishers Island people would like to discuss. There were lengthy discussions on highway conditions and highway labor by Mrs. Pendleton, H. Lee Ferguson, Harold Baker and Gordon Ahman. Superintendent of Highways Price stated that the highways on Fishers Island. are in a much better condition than the highways in the rest of the Town as the Town Board had viewed them before attending the meeting. Supervisor Klipp asked Justice Edwards if he ha.d seen anpYy papers, beer cans or cut grass along the sides of the roads. He stated that he had not and that roads are in good condition. Jack Gada and Louis Greico also stated that the highways on Fishers Island are in excellant condition. The question was asked if the highways on Fishers Island which are not town highways could be taken over by the Town as public 'h�,ghways. They were referred to highway specifications.
