HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-05/29/1956 3.20 Meeting of May 29, 1956. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, May 29, 1956. The meeting was . called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the followigg present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, June 12, 1956, at 1:30 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. At 2 o 'clock P.M. in accordance with a notice published according to law, bids were opened for proposals to furnish to ,the Town of Southold one new 1956, 2-door , 8 cylinder standard model automobile for use as police car. The bids were as follows: Greenport .Auto Sales , One 8 cylinder Ford .Auto at a total price of $1439.14 Crabtree-O'keefe, One 8 cylinder Chevrolet Auto at a total price of $1271.00 Cutchogue Auto Sales , one 8 cylinder Ford Auto at a total price of $1700.00 Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest: ]RESOLVED: That the bids be placed in the hands of the Police Committee for their consideration and report back later at this meeting. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor- Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby is authorized to enter into a contract with the Village of Greenport for the renewal of Fire Hydrants for a term of five ( 5) years beginning on July 15 1956, at a rate of Forty ($40,00) Dollars per .hydrant per year or fraction thereof. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby is authorized to purchase a Lifeboat for usa at the Southold Town Beach. Vote of Town Board : Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby is authorized to purchase sixty-seven (67) new street signs which are to match the present posts which are now installed throughout the Town. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Supt. of Highways Price; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That inasmuch as the required dedication and release have been duly received , Map of same duly filed and the necessary papers signed the Town Board take over and maintain as public highways SEAW00L DRIVE and MIDLAND PARKWAY, situate at Southold, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthi11, Clark and Demarestt and Superintendent of Highways Price. f 321 Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Southold Town Highway Specifications be amended and the following clause inserted therein:- That any person or persons desirous of dedicatio land for town highway purposes be required to file with the Southold Town Planning Board three (3) prints of the proposed layout of such highways , and that the Planning Board approve such layout, re- turning one print to the applicant or applicants , one print to the Town Board and retaining one print for the files of the Planning Board; that the Town Board also be required to approve such layout and so advise the Planning Board; that this amend- ment to the Highway Specifications shall become effective June 19 1956, Vote •of Town Board: .Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board approve the action of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District on enter- ing into a bareboat charter with the Interstate Navigation Comp- any for the use of the M/V Yankee from May 14, 1956 to May 15, 1956, both &,tes inclusive, with the provision that the charterer shall have the option of extending the period of the charter for addit26nal days , but not in excess of 30 at the rate of $1 50.00 per day for the first 5 days and at ,the rate 6f $100.00 per day for any additional days thereafter. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Demarest: WHEREAS , It is the desire of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District to enter into an agreement with the General Service Administrator for the right to enter and use and occupy Building No. 239, located at Fort H. G. Wright, Fishers Island , New York, Now, Therefore , be it RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold approve the action of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District and instruct Supervisor Norman E. Klipp to sign the terms and conditions as required by the General Service Administrator in his letter dated May 17, 1956, reference to D-NY-404. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install two (2) additonal aerial street lights in the Southold Lighting District said lights to be placed on Poles No. 442 and 448 on the new state highway, Route 25, in the eastern end of the district. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be and he hereby is directed to enter into a contract .with Crabtree-01keefe for the purchase of one new 2-door dedan standard model 8 cylinder' auto- mobile at a total price of $1271.00 to be delivered at the Police Department at Peconic. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest. A communication wqs received from Mrs . Ann Montgomery requesting the Town Board to proclaim October 23 as United States Day. The. communication was orderdd placed on file for further consideration. Adjournment was at 6 p.m. Ralph P.
