Will you please bring this Resolution to the atten tion of your Town Board. "It is the concensus of opinion of this meeting that it is against the public interest to have a separate collection of taxes in the Town of Southold and that the Southold Town Board be notified that we do not wish to change the present method of collection. Ralph P. Booth Town Clerk A public hearing wqs held by the Town Board at Village Hall at Greenport, on Wednesday, May 23 , 1956. The meeting was duly opened at 7:30 P.M. in accordance with the legal notice published in the Town newspapers , with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest, Councilman Albertson, Tom Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The purpose of this meeting was to consider a proposed contract with the Village of Greenport for the furnishing of fire protection to be furnished by said Village to the East-West Greenport Fire Protection District. The Supervisor read the call of the meeting and called upon any person present who wished to speak either for or. against the pro- posed contract. Stanley Corwin spoke in favor of the Fire Hydrant Contract. He was not in accord with the Fire Protection Contract. He stated the con- tract was unfair and the rate of $2.60 was too high and something should be ,done: to have it reduced. Robert White stated he was in favor of the contracts . The Town Board statlad they would take the matter under consideration and decided to hold a meeting with the Greenport Village Board and see if the contract could be revised and the term of the contract reduced.
