MEETING. OF MARCH 61 19 56.
The Southold Town Board met at the office- of Supervisor Norman °.
Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, March 6, 1956. The meeting was called
to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp;,
Justices Tuthill, Clark and Demarest, Councilman Albertson, Superin-
tendent of Highways Price, Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine claims
against the Town concluding the Audit work at 2:00 P.M.
Moved by Justice C1aEk; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby
are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board : Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill., Clark
and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest:
RESOLVED: That a special meeting of the Southold Town Board will be
held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport on
Wednesday, March 7, 1956, at 1:30 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayex-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Clark, Tuthill
and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board will be
held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport , on
Tuesday, March 27, 1956, at L;30 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill , Clark
and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest:
RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to re-
quest the Long Island Lighting Company to install one additional
600 c.p. aerial street light in the Southold Lighting District,
said light to be placed on pole #4 on Oak Lawn Ave. in Southold, NY.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill , Clark
and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
At 2 o 'clock P.M. in accordance with a notice published according
to law, bids were opened for 9-cylinder
to furnish to the Town of
Southold two new 1956 2-door 8-cylinder standard model automobiles
for use as police. cars. The bids were as follows:
Greenport .Auto Sales-Two 8-cylinder Ford Autos at a total price
of $1750.00
Greenport Auto Sales-Two 8-cylinder Mercury Autos at a total price
of $1951.00
Crabtree-OEKeefe-Two 8-cylinder Chevrolets at a total price of
$2280.00
Cutchogue Auto Sales-Two 8-cylinder Ford Autos at a total price
of $1800.00
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Albertson;
RESOLVED: That the bids be placed in the hands of the Police Committee
for their consideration and report back later at this meeting.

and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest:
RESOLVED: That a building permit be and hereby is valid for one year
from the date of issuance, and that the Building Inspector be so
instructed.

and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
Moved by Justice Clerk; seconded by Justice Demarest:
RESOLVED: That the action of Supervisor Norm n E. Klipp in entering
into a lease with Levines Market at Greenportfor a room situated
on the second floor of the building with' the County of Suffolk for
Welfare purposes in the amount of $50.00 ' per month, retroactive to
January 1, 1956, be approved.

and Demarest; and Councilman Albertson.

RESOLVED: That the action of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp in entering
into a lease with the Bohack Realty Corporation for an office room

for the zoning Commissiom. in the .$ohack..Building _at the corner of
Main and Front Street, in Greenport, in the amount of $25.00 per month
as of March 1, 1956 , be approved.

and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.

RESOLVED: :-That the Police Report for the month of February be accepted
by the Town Board and placed on file.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-SupervJmr Klipp; Justlees Tuthill, Clark,
and Dmmarest and Councilman Albertson.
The following Bonds were presented to the Board for approval:
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That Bond No. SM178366, issued by the American Motorists
Insurance Company in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) on
behalf of Henry Y. King, be and the same is hereby approved as to its
form, manner of execution and sufficiency of surities therein.
Vote of Town board : Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark
and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
Moved by Council .Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That Bond No. SM178365, issued by the American Motorists
Insurance Company in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) on
behalf of Otto L. .Anrig be and the same isahereby approved as to its
form, manner of execution and sufficiency of sureties therein.
Vote of Town Board: .Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark
and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.

RESOLVED: That Bond No.SM178361, issued by the .American Motorists
Insurance Company in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00)
on behalf of James P] Kelly, be and the smiae is hereby approved
as to its form, manner of execution and sufficiency of sureties
therein.

and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
A communication was received from the Orient Garden Club, requesting
the Town Board to make a donation twards the shade tree fund.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Councilman Albertson:
RESOLVED: That the request be granted the Orient Garden Club to
plant shade trees on Town Property adjacent to highways in
Orient , providing they obtain permission from the abutting prop-
erty owners. For every dollar spent by the Garden Club, the Town
will contribute the same amount up to but noy to exceed the sum of
$250.00

WHEREAS , the Police Committee reported that the lowest bid on
the police cars was submitted by the Greenport Auto Sales , there-
fore be it
RESOLVED: That Norman- E; Klipp, Supervisor, be and he hereby is
directed to enter into a contract with the Greenport Auto Sales
for the purchase of two 2-door sedan standard model 8-cylinder
automobiles at a total price of $1750.00 to be delivered at
the Police Department at Peconic.

and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.

RESOLVED: That the street lighting contract between the Town of
Southold and the Long Island Lighting Company, covering the Matt-
ituck Lighting District No. 1 for a period of one year, beginning
with the first day of April, 1956 and terminating on the 31st day of
March, 1957, be and the same is hereby approved by the Town Board.

and Demarest and Councilman .Albertson.

RESOLVED: -That the street lighting contract between the Town of
Southold and the Long Island Lighting Company, covering the Mattituck
Lighting District #2 for a period of one year, beginning with the
first day of April, 1956 and terminating, on the 31st day of '-March
1957, be and the same is hereby approved by the Town Board:

and Demarest and Councilman .Albertson'.
Valentine Rush appeared before the Board presenting a map of a
proposed highway through his property at Arshamomaque requesting
the Town Board to take over asaa public highway. The Board stated
that when the highwgy specifications were met the Board would .
consider taking it over as a public h*ghway, providing it comes
up to his south boundary line.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice 'Clark:
RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $3 ,073.18, Lighting
District Bills in the amount of $1,437.14, Fishers Island Ferry
District Bills in the amount of $6,408.72, be and the same are
hereby ordered paid.
