The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Albert Martocchia
on Tuesday, April 6, 1971 at 3 :00 P.M. with the following present: Sup-
ervisor Martocchia; Councilman Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter; Sup-
erintendent of Highways Dean; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Rich-
mond. Absent: Justice Edwards and CouncilmanValentine.
Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Rich;
RESOLVED: That the minutes of March 23 , 1971 and the Special meeting
of March 24, 1971 be and they hereby are approved.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Martocchia; Councilman Rich;
Justices Demarest and Suter.
Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Justice Demarest;
RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board will be held at
the office of Supervisor Albert Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenport,
New York, on Tuesday, April 20, 1971 at 7 :30 P.M.

Justices Demarest and Suter.

RESOLVED: That the reports of Police, Supervisor, Justice Suter, Build-
ing Department and Town Clerk for the month of March 1971 be accepted
by the Town Board and placed on file.

Justices Demarest and Suter.

WHEREAS,- William Lieblein bf S.o.dthold, N.Y. has volunteered to place
navigation stakes in the entrance of Arshamomaque Pond for the year 1971,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That- William Lieblein be and hereby is
authorized by the Southold Town Board to place markers at a cost n6t
to exceed $70. 00.

WHEREAS, Marion Regent, Southold, N.Y. has been a faithful and, con-
scientious employee of the Town of Southold for the past twenty years,
and
WHEREAS, Marion Regent has acted as Deputy Town Clerk,- Deputy Registrar,
Sectetary, to the Town Trustees and has diligently and faithfully
performed all of the duties in connection with these positions,
NOW, THEREFORE,- BE IT RESOLVED: That it is with deep regret that the
Town Board of the Town of Southold accepts the resignation of Marion
Regent, and wishes her a most satisfying and happy retirement -of -many
years, and be it further
RESOLVED: That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Marion -Regent
and a copy be recorded in the minutes of the meeting of the Town Board'.

WHEREAS, Sophie Saunders applied to the Town Board for a single trailer
renewal permit dated January 28, 1971,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of Sophie Saunders
to locate a single trailer on his property, Main Road, Laurel, N.Y.
be and hereby is granted for a period of six (6) months.

Justices Demarest and Suter.

WHEREAS, William A. Steiner applied to the Town Board for a single
trailer renewal permit dated February 26, 1971,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of William A.
Steiner to locate a single trailer on his property on John Road,
E/S Main Road, Mattituck, N.Y. be and hereby is granted for a period
of six (6) months.

WHEREAS, Carl Frelix,, Jr. has applied to the Town Board for a single
trailer renewal permit dated March 22 ,. 1971,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE . IT RESOLVED: That the application of Carl . Frelix, . Jr.
to locate a single trailer on property of Herman Hubbard, north side of
Main Road, Mattituck, N.Y. be and hereby is granted for a period of
six (6) months.

WHEREAS, Sam Brown applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal
permit dated February 13, 1971,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of Sam Brown to locate
a single trailer on his property off Middle Road, Cutchogue, N.Y. .be and
hereby is granted for a period of six months.

WHEREAS, Southold Town Planning Board has prepared an official report
and recommendation and a report returned to the Town Board on the applic-
ation of Gordon Ahamn, Fishers Island, New York, for a change of zone
from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B-2 " Business District
on certain property situated on Fishers Island, New York,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held by the
Southold Town Board at the Fire House, Fishers Island, New York, on April
27, 1971, at 2 :00 P.M. on the above mentioned petition and that the Town
C1erk ,be and he hereby is authorized and directed to. cause notice of said
hearing to be published in the Suffolk Weekly Times , pursuant to the
requirements of law.

RESOLVED: That the Town Board accept a Bond in the amount of.$4.8','0{?Q:)QD as
recommended by the Southold Town Planning Board for the completion of
roads, drainage and other improvements approved by .Lawrence Tuthill,.
Construction Engineer, and Highway Superintendent in the subdivision
known as LAURELWOOD ESTATES, developed by Martin Wegleicki, Laurel, N.Y.

RESOLVED: That Robert C. Reeves,and Walter Bondarchuk, Watchmen, be
and they hereby are authorized to attend Police Academy, A1ba,ny, New York,
and be it further
RESOLVED: That the actual and necessary expenses to travel, lodging and
meals while attending sd.id Academy be a legal charge against the Town.

RESOLVED: That the position to be filled in the Town ,.Clerk Office be that
of a Stenographer classification.

RESOLVED: That .this Town Board approves of the Fishers Island Ferry District
in entering into a contract with the Blount Marine Corporation in accord-
ance with the bid submitted in the sum of $ for repairs, painting
and inspection.

RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold approve and sign
the agreement between Fishers Island Ferry District and Richard Grebe,
Fishers Island, New York, in relation to the Airport at Fishers .Island,
all 'in accordance with the said agreement of meeting of January 26, 1971.

RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $14, 003. 73 .4 Lighting District
Bills -in the amount of $4, 670. 18; Fishers Island Ferry -District Bills in
the amount of $42, 547. 71; Highway Bills in the amount of $11, 095.66 and
Capital Accounts in, the amount of $170.71 be and the -same are hereby
ordered paid.

At 3 :00 P.M. in accordance -with a notice .published according to law, bids
were opened for the operation of the concession stand and .other ' fac'ilities
at the Southold Town Beach located on Long ; Island Sound, ,-the following .

Mark Butterfield, age 10, appeared before the Board and read a letter.
protesting the building of houses on filled land because of the possib-
ility of pollution of surrounding waters from cesspools, etc.
Mrs . Bachrach, Southold, N.Y. representing the League of Women Voters,
requested that people be required to obtain approval from the Health
Department before pdrmits for building houses are- granted.
Mr. Paul Stoutenburgh and Mrs. Knolls appeared before the Board to discuss
selling of fill at the Town Disposal Area, welands, dredging; etc.

RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request the
Long Island Lighting Company to install the following lights :
- 3- 175 MV street, lights on Poles 220 , 225 and 228, Main :Road, Cutchogue,:
N.Y. , in the vicinity of Bay Avenue, Cutchogue, .N..Y.
1 - 175 MV street light on Pole 5 , Navy Street, Orient, New York.
