The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Albert Martocchia,
on .Tuesday, March 23,. 1971 at 3 :00 P.M. -with the .following present: Deputy
Supervisor Valentine; Councilman Rich; Justices Suter and Demarest; Super-
intendent of Highways Dean and .Town Clerk Richmond.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Councilman Rich;
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting of March 9, -1971 be and they
hereby- are approved.

RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board will be held at the
office of the Supervisor, Albert Martocchia, 16 South Street, -Gr'eenport;
New York, on Tuesday, April 6, 1971 at 3 :.00 P.M.

RESOLVED: - That the Town of -Southold sell a 5-year statutory Installment -
Bond in the amount of $95, 000. 00 to the -Valley National Bank of L.I.
at an interest rate. of 3. 5% with respect to the acquisition of addition-
al Ferry Boat for Fishers 'Island Ferry District-

Moved by Councilman Valentine; seconded by Councilman Rich;
WHEREAS, many of our veterans on Fishers Island may be in need of a
Veterans Hospital, and
WHEREAS, the nearest Veterans Hospital is many miles away,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board does en
dorse and favor a 'Veterans Hospital located in the Southeastern
Connecticut area.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Deputy Supervisor Valentine; Councilman
Rich; Justices Demarest and Suter.
Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Justice Demarest;
WHEREAS , Burton Potter Post #185 American Legion, Greenport, N.Y. applied
to the Town Clerk for an Amended Bingo License, and
WHEREAS, the Town Board has examined the application and after invertig-
ation duly made findings and determinations as required by law,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is
authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the Town Board the find-
ings and determinations as required by 'law, and it is further
RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to issue an
Amended Bingo License to the Burton Potter Post #185 American Legion,
Greenport, New York.

Justices Demarest and Suter.

RESOLVED: That the Town Board accept a Bond or check in the amount of
$5, 500.00 as recommended by the Southold Town Planning Board for the
completion of roads, drainage and other improvements approved by
Lawrence Tuthill, Construction Engineer, in the subdivision known as
"Eastward Manor" developed by Peconic Homes Inc. , Mattituck, N.Y.

Moved by Justice Suter; seconded by Councilman Rich;
WHEREAS, the Town Board has accepted the resignation of Dr. John Hansen
from the Narcotics Council, with regret,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Dr. Barry Hellman be and he hereby
is appointed to replace the vacancy made by the resignation of Dr. John
Hansen on the Narcotics Council .

Justices Demarest and Suter.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Councilman Rich;
RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to request
the Long Island Lighting Company to install one 175 MV street light
on pole #451, Main Road, Southold, N.Y.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes :-Deputy Supervisor Valentine; Councilman Rich;
Justices Demared.t and Suter.
The Board adjourned after all present stood in silence in memory of
the late Mr. John F. Rapp, Southold, N.Y. who died in North .Carolina.
Mr. Rapp was well known and admired for his concern for safety and
other interests in the community.
Mr. Arthur Kenniff, New Suffolk, appeared before the Town Board pro-
testing the proposed change of classification on his and other local
properties from light industry to Commercial. He also was in disagree-
ment with the New Suffolk Civic Association on the parking of card
and trailers and the use of landing ramps.
Adjournment was at 3 :45 P.M.

SPECIAL MEETING OF MARCH 24, 1971
We, the undersigned, being members of the Town Board of the Town of
Southold, Suffolk County, - New .York, do hereby severally waive notice
of the time,- place and purpose .of .the meeting of the Town Boar.d.. .tobbe
held ah Southold, New York, on Wednesday, March 24, 1971 and do hereby
consent that the same be held on said date for the transaction of any
business which may properly come before said -meeting.. -

BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold does hereby
elect to provide the benefits of sub-division k o"f Section 41, sub-
division g of Section_ 43 of the Retirement and Social Law and sub-. .. -
division 4 of Section 243 of the Military Law, all as presently-or
hereafter amended; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this election shall become effective with
the payroll period beginning on 26th day of March,- 1971. -
