SOUTHOLD TOWN -BOARD MEETING
November 8, 1973
The Southold .Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Albert M.
Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York, at 3 :00 P.M. ,
Thursday, November 8, 1973 , with -the following present:
Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia
Councilman James Homan
Justice Martin Suter
Justice Louis M. .Demarest
Town Attorney Rober.t. W., Tasker
Highway Superintendent Raymond C. Dean
Town Clerk Albert W. Richmond
Absent: Justice Francis T. Doyen
Councilman James H. Rich,, Jr.
Moved by Councilman Homan, seconded by. .Justice, Suter, it was
RESOLVED that the minutes of Oc.tober . 30 , 1973 be and they hereby
areapproved as submitted. -
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes : Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Homan, Justice Suter,., Justice Demarest..
Moved by Justice Suter, se.conded-. by Justice. Demarest,. it .was
RESOLVED that the next meeting of the Southold Town Board will be
held at 3 :00 P.M. , Tuesday, November 13 , 1973 at the office of
Supervisor Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenport, New York.
Vote of the. Town Board: Ayes : Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Homan, Justice Suter., Justice Demarest.
Moved by Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Suter, it was
RESOLVED that this Town Board meeting be recessed at 3 :05 P.M.
for the purpose of holding. a public hearing on the 1.974 .Budget
of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York.
Vote of the. Town Board: Ayes:: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
Meeting reconvened at 4:00 P.M.
On. motion of Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Suter, it was
RESOLVED that Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia be and he hereby is
authorized to pay the 1974 Association of Towns dues in the amount
of $400. 00.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes : Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. .
Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Justice Suter, it was
RESOLVED that Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia be and he hereby is
authorized to .arrange .for transportation and lodging for all town
officials. who wish to_ attend the, Association of. Towns meetings in
February 1974 .at New York City.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes : Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Councilman Homan, it was
RESOLVED that Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia be and he hereby is
authorized to pay -bill of Philip Kenter, Cablevision consultant
to the Town of Southold, in the amount. of $2 , 067 .46.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes : Supervisor . Martocchia, Councilman
Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.

On motion of Justice Suter, seconded by Justice Demarest, it was
RESOLVED that the Southold Town Board- accept, *ith regret, the
resignation of Elizabeth McCloskey as Commissioner of the Fishers
Island Garbage and Refuse District, effective October 31, 1973.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes : Supervisor Martocchia, Councilma-n
Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
Moved by Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Suter, it was
RESOLVED that the Southold Town Board approves the action of the
Fishers Island Ferry District in the appointment of Arthur J. Walsh
as Commissioner of the Fishers Island Garbage and Refuse District
effective November 1, 1973, to fill the vacancy created by the
resignation of Elizabeth McCloskey.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes : Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
Moved by Justice Suter, seconded by Councilman Homan,
WHEREAS Fred Lawson applied to the Town Board for a single trailer
renewal permit dated
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the application of Fred Lawson
to locate a single trailer on the south side of Sound Avenue, on his
own property, Mattituck, New York, be and hereby is granted for a
period of six .(6) months.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes : Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
On motion of Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Suter, it was
RESOLVED that this Town Board meeting be recessed at 4 :45 P.41.
to reconvene_ at 8 :00 P,.M.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes : Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
The Town Board meeting reconvened at 8 :00 P..M. and the 1974 Budget
Hearing was reopened. (Councilman Rich present.)
1974 Southold Town Budget Hearing was closed at 8 :15 P .M.
Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Counci,lman . Rich, it was
RESOLVED that Bond No. 73 S-12500 BCA issued by the Aetna Casualty
and Surety Company in the name of Arthur J. Walsh, Commissioner of
the Fishers Island Garbage and Refuse District, in the am6unt of
$20, 000. 00 beginning October 31, 1973 and ending December 31, . 1973 , be
and the same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution
and sufficiency of sureties therein.

Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
