HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-11/10/1955 26 MEETING OF NOVEMBER 10, 1955. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Kl1pp at Greenport, on Thursday, November 10, 1955. The meet- ing was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor _Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine claims against the Town concluding the Audit work at 2 o 'clock P.M. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justic e .Albertson: RESOLVED: That 'the minutes of the pr vious meeting be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: .Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest . Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly Audit meeting of this Board I` will be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport , on Tuesday, December 6, 1955, at 1:30 P 4. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill° seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That the Town clerk be and he hereby is directed to request the. Long Island Lighting Company to install two. addition- al 100 c.p. aerial street lights in the Mattituck #1 Lighting District, said lights to be placed on Pole #10 and Pole #12 on Hamilton .Avenue at .Mattituck, New York. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Superintendent of Highways Price; Seconded by. Justice Albertson: WHEREAS , A PORTION OF Sound .Avenue , at Mattituck, Town .of South- old, has been maintained by the Town of Southold, for many years , and WHEREAS , it is the desire of the parties hereto that said portion of Sound Avenue be properly described and laid out , now therefore , be it RESOLVED: That inasmuch as the required dedication and release ha -e been duly received, map of same duly filed and the necessary papers signed, the Town Board accept that portion of Sound Avenue at Mattituck, which Con Bullock , Eva Bullock and Mary Pylko , owners of said property adjoining said portion of Bound Avenue have dedicated to the Town of Southold. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest end Superintendent of Highways Price . Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Police Report for the month of October be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file . Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Demarest: WHEREAS , Robert F. Tuthill , School Traffic Officer , East Cutchogue School District #8, has resigned such position, therefore , be it RESOLVED: That on the recommendation of Harold Price and Ellsworth . W. Bedell, Republican Committeemen, District #10, Town of Southold, Herbert W. Cook, of Cutchogue, New York, be and he hereby is appointed Special Constable to direct traffic at the East Cutchogue School crossing, at a salary of $5. 50 per day, for each school day worked, effective as of November 21 , 1955, he to serve a t the pleasure of the Town Board. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. 208 Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Bond No. SM178218, issued by the American Motorists Insurance Company, in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) on behalf of Jame.s J. Fitzpatrick, be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, sum, manner of execution and sufficiency of surety therein. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Dupervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Bond No. SM178327,,.-issued by the American Motor- ists Insurance Company, in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($5®®.00) on behalf of Joseph H. SAwicki , be and the same is hereby apporved as to its form, sum, manner of execution and sufficiency of surety therein. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klip p; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded. by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $35234. 50; Lighting District Bills in the amount of #1,433 .94; Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the amount of $1 5, 514. 54 be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, .Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by, Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: EESOL VED : That Otto L. Anrig , Chief of Police , be authorized to obtain the price and specifications of four new sirens for use on the police cars. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest . The Town Board canvassed the ballot cast for the Library appropriation in the General Election of November 8, 1955. The vote was as follows: Yes 4 -2362. No - 487. The proposition to appropriate the sum of $1 5,000.00 Annually for the support of the Public Libraries of Southold Town for the fiscal years 1956-1957, was duly declared passed. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Irving M. Rogers of Greenport, Donald S. Edwards of Fishers Island, Florence Slavonik of Southold, and Betty Tyler of Mattituck be and they hereby are appointed Dog Enumerators for the Town of Southold for the, year 1956. Vote. of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. The Public Hearing on the preliminary budget was formerly opened by the Supervisor at 2 o 'clock P.M. in accordance with the notice published in the newspaper of the town required by Suction 113 of the Town Law. The Supervisor read the call of the hearing and as there were no interested persons having appeared before the Board to speak either for or against any of the items in the proposed budget , the hearing was duly closed at 2:15 o 'clock P.M.
