MEETING OF JULY 121 1955.
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman
E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, July '12, 1955. The meeting
was called .to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present:
Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest;
Superintendent of Highways Price , Town .Attorney Terry and Town
Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on .Audit to examine claims
against the Town, concluding the audit work at 2 o'clock P.M.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: The the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby
are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
.Albertson, Clark and Demarest.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice -Clark:
RESOLVED:. That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board
will be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at
Greenport, on Tuesday, August 9, 1955, at 1:30 P.M.
Vote of Town Mard:Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
Albertson, Clark and Demarest.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That Frank S. Dawson of New Suffolk, be and hereby is
appointed, subject to the written approval of the District
Superintendent of Schools, Attendance Supervisor of all schools
throughout the Town except such schools as are otherwise provided
for by Section 32.13 of the Education Law and be it further
RESOLVED: That such Attendance Supervisor shall be removable
at the pleasure of the District Superintendent of Schools , and
be it further
RESOLVED: That the compensation of such Attendance Supervisor be
fixed at $1,000.00 *per year, payable in regular monthly install-
ments , he to pay his own expense and be it further
RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is instructed to
notify Frank S. Dawson : and the District Superintendent of Schools
of this appointment.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
Albertson, Clark and Demarest.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the Police Report for the month of June be accepted
by the Town Board and placed on file.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
.Albertson, Clark and Demarest.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold hereby
authorizes Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor of the Town of Southold,
to make application to the New York State Civil Defense Commission
• for Federal Disaster Relief in accordance with the requirements
and on the forms supplied by the Civil Defense Commission.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
Albertson, Clark and Demarest.
The Town Board received a letter from the Southold Rotary Club
and a petition signed by residents and property owners of Sou th-
old, protesting against the destruction of trees on Main Street ,
through Southold .Village which the State Department of Public
Works are about to destroy in connection with the resurfacing
of the highwa jr.
On Julj, 11, 1955, Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor of the Town of
Southold, John James Kramer, President of the Southold Rotary
Club, T. Paul Montgomery, President df the Lions Club, Hon.
Edmond R. Lupton, Hon, L. Barron Hill, Rensseqler G. Terry Jr.
Esq. , Ann Currie-Bell, Dorothy Robohm, Kathryn Salmon and 'Adith
W. Prince met with M.E. Goul, District Engineer and Assistant
District Engineer Morgan to discuss the destruction of the trees
in connection with the resurfacing of the Mlin Street running
through Southold Village. Mr. Goul intimated that he would re-
survey the project and save as many trees as possible and would
save the trees in front of the Southold Free Library.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED:. That General Bills in the amount of $9,006.38, Lighting
District Bills in the amount of $1,430.65, Town Trustee Bills in
the amount of $40,00, Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the
amount of $7,607.34 be � and .the same are hereby ordered paid.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
Albertson, Clark 9nd Demarest.
Adjournment was at 3:30 P.M.
