HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-01/25/1955 2—1-8 i`,E3TING OF January 25, 1955 The Southold. Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E . Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, January 25, 1955. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Albertson, Clark and Demarest; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town .Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting held on January 11 , 19559 be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices .Alberti;on, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the special meeting held January 17th be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice .Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Noramn E. Klipp at Greenport , on Tuesday, February 15, 1955, at 1:30 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Albertson; Clark and Tuthill . At 2 o 'clock P.M. in accordance with a notice published according to law, bids were opened for proposals to furnish the Town of Southold two new 1955 2-door sedan standard model automobiles for use as police cars . The following bids were submitted: Greenport .Auto Sales - 2 new 1955 6-Cylinder autos - $29218.00 Cutchogue Auto Sales - 2 new 1955 6-Cylinder autos - 1',243 .00 Cutchouge Auto Sales - 2 new 1955 8-Cylinder autos .- ,1,443 .00 Crabtree-O 'Keefe - 2 new 1955 6-Cylinder autos - 1,650.00 Crabtree-O 'Keefe - 2 new 1955 8-Cylinder autos - 1 ,822.00 r, Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That the bids be placed in the hands of the Police Committee for their consideration and report back later at this meeting. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS , THE Police Committee reported that the lowest bid was sub- mitted by the Cutchogue .Auto Sales , therefore be. it RESOLVED: That Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor , be and hey^hereby is direct- ed to enter into a contract with the Cutchogue Auto Sales for the purchase of two new 1955 2-door sedan standard model 8 cylinder auto- mobiles at a total price of $1,443 .00, to be delivered at the Police Department at Peconic in 60 days . Vote of Token Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Albertson, : Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the annual report of tkl..e Highway Accounts of Norman E. Klipp , Supervisor, were examined and approved by the Town 'Board. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Justices .Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS ,"' the East '�jarion Fire Department h9s .recommended that Charles M. King be appointed Fire Department Inspector to fill the vacancy caused by the death df Chester L. Ketcham, now therefore be it RESOLVED: That Charles iI. King be and he hereby is appointed Fire Department Inspector to serve in such capacity in the East Marion Fire District until January 1, 1956 , in accordance with Artical 8, Section 303 , Sub-division 4 of the Multiple Resident Law, and be it further 219 in RESOLVED: .That the above mentioned person serve/such capacity without compensation. Vote of Town Board: AyesySupervisor Klipp; Justices Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Supervisor Klipp read a letter from Patrick Gorman, which was turned over to the Town Attorney who was instructed to contact Mr . German's Attorney and discuss the contents of- the letter with him. Lloyd Hamilton appeared before the board to complain about sand which is blown from the Sound Beach onto Bailey Road, it is then blown from Baileys Road and deposited on his lawn in places as much as three inches deep. It was agreed that`-,the-Superintendent of Highways and the Town .Attorney meet with Mr."Hamilton and see what could be done to correct the situation. Offered by: Justice Clark Seconded by: Justice Demarest WHEREAS , Subdivision 21a of Section 4 of the Tax Law (as amended by Chapter 824 of the Laws of 1954) provides that the aggregate amount of taxes levied against any separately assessed parcel of a railroad redevelopment corporation shall not exceed the aggregate amount of the taxes finally determined to be payable on such parcel for the last fiscal year of such tax district ending prior to the fiscal year in which such corporation first qualifies as a rail- road redevelopment corporation, and WHEREAS , The L6ng Island Rail Road Company a railroad redevelop- mentocorporation within the purview of said Law, has tendered the sum of $5,243 .13 , in full payment of the':1954-55 taxes upon its property in Southold Town (based upon the 1952-53 tax) , NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED, That .Austin C. Burt, Receiver of Taxes of the sown of Southold, be and he °hereby is authorized and directed to accept said sum of $5,243 .13 , in full payment of the 1954-55 real estate taxes due from The Long Island Rail Road Company, in accordance with the provisions of said Chapter 824 of the Laws of 1954.
