HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-11/09/1954 18 MEETING- OF #OVEi`B_ R 9, 1954. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, November 9, 1954. The meeting was called to order at 1:50 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demar- est; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town -Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine cla 4s against the Town concluding the Audit work at 2 P.M. Moved by Justice Albetson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and here- by are .duly approved as read. Vote of. Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice C2:1rk: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board will be held at thb office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Green- port, on Tuesday, November 30, 1954, at 1:.30 P.M. Vote of Town Board: .Ayes-Supervisor Klipp'; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That Irving M. Rogers of Greenport, Edward Skwara of Cutchogue, Mrs . ,Anne .A . Wall of Fishers Island and Florence Slavonik of Southold, be and they hereby are appointed Dog Enumerators for the Town of Southold for the year19 55• Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest_;. Mr. John Venteau, representing the Venteau Construction Corp- oration appeared before the Board presenting a map of a high- way known as Birch Drive, situated at Laurel, Town of Southold, New York, for its approval. After a lengthy discussion the Board adopted the following resolution. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill :: RESOLVED: That the Town Board grant Mr. Venteau tentative approval of Birch Drive, subject to the approval of the Southold Town Board. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, .Albertson and Demarest, and Super- intendent of Highways Price. Noes-Justice Clark. After discussion of the provisions of Section 88 of the. Town Law, the following resolution has offered. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southoldrecommend that Section 88 of the Town Law be amended so as to eliminate the Town of Southold from the mandatory effect of said section as it now reads and that copies ofthe resolution be forwarded to the Hon. S . Wentworth Horton, 4�ate Senat or , and to the Hon. Edmund R. Lupton, .Assemblyman, requesting that they take the necessary action to have the Town of Southold excluded from the mandatory provision of said section 88 of the Town Law. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest,. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson:: RESOLVED.-, That General Bills in the amount of 04,914.14, Lighting District Bills in the amount of $1, 546.29, Town Trustee Bills in the amounttof $100.00, Fishers Island Ferry Distrct Bills in the amount of$8,252.15 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.
