HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-08/10/1954 157 MEETING; OF AUGUST 10, 1954. The Southold Town Board met at the dffice of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, .August 10, 1954. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the follow- ing present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices "Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on .Audit to examine claims against the Town, concluding the audit work at 2 o 'clock P.M. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clerk RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby are ,duly approved as read. , Vote of Town Board: .Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson' Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That the Town Board make its official visit to Fishers Island on Tuesday' August 24, 1954. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. At 2 o 'clock P.M. in accordance with a notice published according to ,law, bids were opened for proposals to furnish the Town of bouthold two 2-door sedan standard model auto- mobiles for use as police cars . The bids were as follows: Crabtree-O'Keefe, two 6 Cylinder Autos $2200.00 Cutchogue Auto Sales If " " 2080.00 Cutchogue Auto Sales 8 " " 2230.00 Greenport Auto Sales 6 " " 2218.00 Greenport Auto Sale 8 " " 2418.00 Moved by Justice Clark; . seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the bids be placed in the hands of the Police Committee for their consideration and report back later at the meeting. Move& by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice .Albertson: WHEREAS , the Police Committee reported that the lowest bid wbs submitted by Cutchogue Auto Sales, therefore be it RESOLVED: That Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor, be and he here- by is directed to enter into a contract with the Cutchogue Auto Saias for the purchase of two 2-door sedan standard model 8 cylinder Automobiles at a. total price of $2,200.00 to be delivered at the Police Department at Peconic in 50 days. Vote of Town Board:. Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Tuthill- seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That the Town perk be and hei- hereby is directed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install four, (4) additional aerial street lights in the Mattituck #1 Light- ing District' said lights to be placed on Poles No. 2 and on Horton Avenue, on Pole No. 6 on the corner of Horton Ave, and Oak St. and on Pole No . 2 on Pine St. at Mattituck N.Y. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-S-Mpervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest Moved by Justice .Clark; seconded by Justine Albertson: RESOLVED:. That the Police Report for the month of July be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. 158 Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That General Bills in the amount of $3,057.18; Town Trustee Bills in the amount of $50.00, Lighting District Bills in the amount of $1,41136, Fishers Island Ferry Dis- trict Bills in the amount of K 257. 51 be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Nlbertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Norman E. Klipp, Supervisor, be and he here- by is authorized to instruct Paul ' s Servicenter , Peconic, New York, to wash Police cars Nos. 80, 81 and 82 once a week and clegn the interior, for 52 weeks at a monthly charge of eleven Dollars ($11.00) for all three cars. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson, Clark and Demarest. George M. Percy, Jr. Esq. appeared before the Board rep- resenting the Southold-Peconic Civic .Association and re- quest6d,-the Town Board to enact an ordinance regulating Labor Camps in the Town of Southold. He states he would like to submit a draft of a proposed ordinance to be approved by the Town Attorney. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Demarest: RESOLVED: That James Fitzpatrick be and he hereby is appoint- ed Dog Warden for the Town of Southold, and be it further RESOLVED: That James Fitzpatrick be compensated for such position in the amount of $2,366.00 per year, and be it further ]RESOLVED: That the compensation be paid in regular monthly payments , and be it further RESOLVED: That this appointment take effect as of September 19 1954, and be it further RESOLVED: That James Fitzpatrick be appointed Dog Warden for the Town of Southold to serve at the pleasure of the Southold Town Board. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albdrtson,='Clark and Demarest. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justic6 Demarest: RESOLVED: That James Fitzpatrick be and herhereby is appoint- ed part time Police Patrolman (Constable) and be it further RESOLVED: That James Fitzpatrick be compensated for such position at the rate of $910.00 per year, and be it further RESOLVED: That such compensation be paid in regular bi- weekly payments, and be it further RESOLVED: That this appointment take effect as of September 49 1954, and be it further RESOLVED: That James Fitzpatrick be appointed Police Patrol- man (Constable) for the Town of Southold to serve at the pleasure of the Southold Town Board.
