Appl. No. 5150—T. AND A. LAOUDIS PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: I have photographs of, John Link were not aware of, last time you asked me if the deer had been made yet, and John and I were not aware of the fact that the architect had, I'm sorry the artist had already been commissioned to start the statues. I have photographs that the artist sent. CHAIRMAN: I thought they were going to be in brass? PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: No, they will be cast. CHAIRMAN: Oh they will be cast. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Yes, these are the clay molds before the casting takes place. So we were partly correct. MEMBER OLIVA: How tall are they Pat? PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: They are, if you want I can make sure that the architect correctly gave the schematic and measurement on the plans, which I believe we did, but I can verify it. From the tip of the antlers to the base of the MEMBER OLIVA: The antlers go up here that we can't see. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Supposedly they are 3 feet 5 inches in total from top to bottom. MEMBER OLIVA: From the top of the antlers to the bottom? • PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Yes, I'm looking at the drawing that's here. It may be that given that the architect didn't really take an exact rendering of the casting. You can see that the neck on the sculpture Page 2,September 5,2002 Tlf" nscript of Public Hearing ZBA Town of Southold is a little more elaborate on the bottom. I can have the artist send me a precise dimension just to make — sure because I don't want to have an error between the two professionals. CHAIRMAN: You are aware that of course we received the letter saying that, from the neighbors saying that they want to continue the hearing? PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Yes, that's okay. I had actually, I got the photograph late afternoon on Wednesday and I was actually looking for Mr. Mendelbaum's phone number, and fortunately, he called me and said he was out packing the car so I wouldn't even been able to reach him had I tried calling him. When he and I spoke, he told me, his kids were in the car, they were ready to pack up and head west, so it was really inconvenient for him to be detoured to look at these right now and Mrs. Harrison had already left. I didn't try to reach Mrs. Harrison because Mr. Mendelbaum had already told me that she had left the day before. So, unfortunately, I may have their Southold numbers. Her letter didn't include her phone number, her city phone number; I have only a fax came in the transcription. I can try, Linda would you by any chance have a phone number for both of them in the City in your files? BOARD SECRETARY KOWALSKI: They gave them to you when you were in the back. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: They gave me their Southold numbers. BOARD SECRETARY KOWALSKI: No they didn't leave us anything. Their fax number is on the letter that I faxed to you. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: I was going to try calling the fax to see if perhaps it was the same as the fax. BOARD SECRETARY KOWALSKI: You could fax a note to them. • PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: I knew that because they had requested the adjournment I would let Mr. Laoudis know. He wants me to meet with him and show him the photographs and get their input. Their objection is not so much, I don't want to speak for them, but they didn't seem to have much objection to the fence and the gate and things, their objection was to the fact that these deer heads are going to attract attention. MEMBER OLIVA: And the lighting too. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: The lighting of what though? MEMBER OLIVA: I think by the gate. The lighting to shine, wasn't there some sort of lights they were going to shine on these deer heads? PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: I don't remember that. It's possible. I'll check. MEMBER OLIVA: I know Mr. Mendelbaum was complaining about lights. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Well I know Mr. Laoudis actually had shrubs had put on his property to block Mr. Mendelbaum at his request. Mr. Mendelbaum requested and in order not to take aware Mr. Mendelbaum's property, he had the arborvitae line put on Mr. Laoudis property to block any kind of disturbance to them. He also offered to put some shrubbery at the gate so as to not intrude on his privacy. I'll check on the lighting and maybe indirect lighting or whatever soft lighting that they may have, accent lighting. My guess is, if you have heads like this you might put accent lighting on it. I can get the details of the lighting if there is any plans. All right; lighting, photos to neighbors. BOARD SECRETARY KOWALSKI: And the architect's confirmation of their size. • Page 3,September 5,2002 Transcript of Public Hearing zBA Town of Southold PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Oh, yes thank you. I hope that they will be back in two weeks, the neighbors — that is, so I would suggest that we postpone this until the October meeting, if that's all right. By then I should have been able to meet with them. MEMBER ORLANDO: Has Mr. Laoudis put the artist on standby or on hold? PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Yes, well not to pour the brass I hope. CHAIRMAN: Well he can always put them around the swimming pool. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Yes, that's true. I think he really likes the deer heads, so they might go somewhere. He really liked them on the, he thinks that they would look really nice on the either side of the gate. That's his choice, his preference. They're much nicer than the architect's rendition, at least in my opinion. MEMBER TORTORA: They're going to be cast in? CHAIRMAN: Bronze. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Yes, bronze. CHAIRMAN: Okay. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: That's all that I can report at this time. CHAIRMAN: I don't know what the October meeting looks like and that's the problem. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Is the 17th or the 19th the hearing? BOARD SECRETARY KOWALSKI: October 17tn MEMBER OLIVA: When's the Special Meeting? BOARD SECRETARY KOWALSKI: The 3`d PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: I know we've got Breezy on October 17th is it? CHAIRMAN: Right. I guess we'll shoot for the P right now. If there's any change on that or if somebody can't make it, we may change it. PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Okay. CHAIRMAN: All right? PATRICIA MOORE, ESQ.: Just let me know. CHAIRMAN: Yes, thank you. I'll make a motion recessing to October P SEE MINUTES FOR RESOLUTION Respectfully submitted by: • Paula Quintieri r 02
