MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 29, 1953.
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor
Norman E. Klipp at Greenport , on Tuesday, September 29, 1953 .
The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the follow-
ing present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson,
and C$3.rk; Superintendent of Highways Price , Tm Attorney
Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: �
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and
hereby are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town' Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Clark;- seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the regular monthly Audit Meeting of this
Board be held at the office of the Supervisor , Norman E.
Klipp , at Greenport , on Thursday, October 8, 1953 , at 1:30
P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill ,
Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson:
RESOLVED: That William J. Thormhill, Sr. be and he hereby
is appointed School Traffic Officer to serve in such capacity
at the Greenport School , and be it further
RESOLVED: That William J. Thornhill, Sr . be compensated for
such service in -the amount of Four Dollars ($4.00) per day,
for each School day worked, payable in regular monthly pay-
ments , and be it further
RESOLVED: •That this appointment take effect as of September
28, 1953 .
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That Gordon R. Cox be and hereby is appointed
School Traffic Officer , to act in such capacity on Route 25
in front of the Mattituck School, and be it further
RESOLVED: That Gordon R. Cox serve in such capacity without
compensation.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That in accordance with an opinion sent the Town
Board by the State Department of Audit and Control , the bi-
annual report of the Superintendent of Highways , which has
heretofore been published in accordance with a vote at a Town
Meeting in 1999, be dispensed with, and be it further
RESOLVED: That the annual report of highway moneys be publish-
ed in the newspapers pursuant to the provisions; of Section 286
of 'the Highway Law.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That Bond No . SM177399, issued by the American
Motorists Insurance Company, in the amount of $500.00, on be-
half of Charles W. Jacobs , be and the same is hereby approved
as to its form, sum, manner of execution and sufficiency of
surety therein.

RESOLVED: That Bond No . SM177398, issued by the American Motor-
ists Insurance Company, in the amount of $500.00, on behalf
of Edward S . Brush, be and the same is hereby approved as to
its form, sum, manner of execution and sufficiency of surety
therein.

RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board approves the action
of the Commissioners of the Hishers Island Ferry. District in
entering into a contract with the Department of Army for
the leasing of a certgin parcel of land fronting on Silver
Eel Cove approximately 425 feet by 125 feet -together with
Buildings No. 50 and I-397 located at Fort H. H. Wright ,
Fishers Island, New York, and including the non-exclusive
use of certain access roads all as shown in red on Exhibit
A , which is a map showing Silver Eel Cove and vicinity
attached.thereto ,and made a part thereof for a period of
one year beginning October 1, 1953 , and ending September
301 1954, at a rental of One Dollar ($1.00) for said term,
payable in advance.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor . Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the Southold Town Board approves the action
of. the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Garbage and Refuse
District to arrange compensation for the said Commissioners
in accordance. with Section 214 of .the Town Law in the follow-
ing amounts:
Chairman: $10.00 :per day, not to exceed $120.00 Annually.
Secretary: $10.00 per day, not to exceed $120.00 Annually.
Ereasurer: $20.00 per - day, not to exceed $240.00 Annually.
Vote of Town Board: .Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill ,
Albertson and Clark.
