HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-08/11/1953 72 MEETING OF AUGUST 11, 1953. The Southold Town Board met et the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, .August 11, 1953. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the follow- ing present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; Superintendent of Highways Price, Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine claims against the Town, concluding the Audit work at 2:15 P.M. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED : That the Town Board make its official visit to Fishers Island on Tuesday, August 18, 1953 . Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLV��D: That a fee of Five Dollars ($5.00) be assessed and must accompany an application for a permit to establish and operate a Tourist- Camp, House Trailer Camp, House Trail- er or, similar establishments in the Town of Southold. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, .,lbertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS , a petition was received representing property own- ers of Cutchogue , requesting the Town Board of the Town of Southold to change the name of Linden Avenue to Moore ' s Lane, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED: That the petition be granted to change the name of Linden Avenue to Moore 's Lane , at Cutchogue , Town of `'ou thold, County of Suffolk and Slate of New York. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is instructed to notify Ernest W. Morrell , Town Assessor , The Suffolk bounty '-'lerk, The Suffolk ounty Superintendent of Highways and the United States Post Office,Department at Washington, D. C . Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Donald Glover be and he hereby is appointed Temporary Watchman to serve in such capacity at the Southold Town Police Headquarters , and be it further RESOLVED: That Donald Glover be compensated for such services at the rate of Ten Dollars ($10.00) per diem, and be it further RESOLVED: That this appointment take effect as of June 28, 1953 . Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill , Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That the Police Repot for the month of July be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That General B1115 in the sum of $5 903 .67, Lighting District Bills in the sum of $1,397. M, Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the sum of $8,823 . 28, be and the same are hereby ordered paid. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill ' .Albertson and Clark. Moved by Superintendent of Highways Price; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That inasmuch as the required dedication has been duly received, map of same duly filed, and the necessary papers signed, the Town J--5oa.rd take over and maintain as public high- ways , PARK WAY, BEACHWOOD LANE , CRITTEN 'S LA,']E and WOOD END WAY, at Pine Neck , in the Village of Southold and Town of Southold, County of Suffolk and State of New York. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill , Albertson and Clark, and Superintendent of Highways Price. CD Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That Harold Price, Superintendent of Highways , be and hereby is authorized to purchase any piece of equipment or any part thereof at a cost not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) , up to and including January 1, 1954.
