MEETING OF JULY 7, 1953.
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor
i�orman E. Klipp at Greenport, July 7, 1953. The meeting
was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present:
Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and
Clark; Town Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney
Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine
claims against the Town concluding the Audit work at 2 P.M.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded ..by Justice Terry:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and
hereby are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry,
Tuthill, Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board
be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at
Greenport , on Tuesday, July 28, 1953 , at 1:30 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry,
Tuthill, Albertson and Clark.
A request was received from Mr . Abitz requesting the Town
Board to have a light installed on pole No. 16, on Marlene
Lane, in Mattituck.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is direct-
ed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install
one additional aerial street light in the Mattituck No. 1
Lighting District , said light to be placed on Pole No. 16
on Marlene Lane, Mattituck, New York.

Tuthill , Albertson and Clark.
Justice Lester M. Albertson as a member of the Southold
Fire Department requests permission to hold the North
Fork Volunteer Firemans Association in Southold on July 11,
1953 , and to close tb normal traffic and use for tournament
purposes a portion of Town Harbor Lane.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry:
RESOLVED: That the request be granted the Southold Fire
Department to hold a tournament of the North Fork Volunteer
Firemans Association in the village of Southold on July 11,
1953 , and to close to normal traffic and use for tournament
purposes a portion of Town Harbor Lane, as long as is
necessary to complete the scheduled events of said tourna-
ment , and to erect a temporary arch over said Lane and to
erect necessary grandstand seats and fence on the sides of
said Lane for protection of spectators , providing the Town
of Southold be indemnified and saved harmless from any and
all claims arising out of or by reason of the same and that
the Town of Southold be furnished with an:-insurance of
indemnification.

Tuthill , and >Clark.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That Frank S. Dawson of New Suffolk, be and here-
by is appointed, subject to the written approval of the
District Super ir�, tenderitaof ,Schools , ("Attenilsilce :8upery ',sor
of all schools throughout the Town except such schools as
are otherwise provided for by Section 3213 of the Education
Law, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That such Attendance Supervisor shall
be removable at the pleasure of the District Superintendent
of Schools , and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the compensation of such .Atten-
dance Supervisor be fixed at $1000.00 per year payable in
regular monthly installments , he to pay his own expenses ,
and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the town Clerk be and hereby
is instructed to notify Frank S : Dawson and the District
Superintendent of Schools of this appointment, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That, the Town �'lerk be instructed
to file such certificate with the proper partiex as are
requi.red 'by Section 30, Sub-division 3 , of the Town Law.

RESOLVED: That the Police Report for the month of June
be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisop, Klipp; Justices Terry,
Tuthill, Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Terry;seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That General Bills in the sum of $3 625.33 ,
Lighting District Bills in the sum of $1,397. 6 Fishers
Island Ferry District Bills in the sum of $8,16�.61 be
and the same are hereby ordered paid.
Vote of .Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp. Justices Terry,
Tuthill, Albertson and Clark.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: ,
RESOLVED: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be authorized to
sign an agreement between Alhen Holding Corporation and
Joseph Czartosieski and the Town of Southold, and a lease
between Joseph Czartosieski and the Town of Southold for
the use of a tract of land as a municipal parking field at
Southold.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry,
Tuthill, Albertson and Clark.
A communication was received from Robert B. Schur , County
Attorney, in connection with the tax settlement proposed
by .the Long island Railroad for unpaid Suffolk County Taxes.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded ' by Justice .Albertson:
RESOLVED: That in the opini6n of this Board, the proceeds
of the sale of the Far Rockaway Branch of the Long Island
Railroad Company to the City of New York should be devoted
to the rehabilitation of the railroad and the improvement
of its service and that the rapid growth of the County re-
quires more and better railroad transportation, and that
the failure to 'furnish such service would be gravely det-
rimental to the interests of' the County.

Tuthill, Albertson and Clark.
