MEETING OF MAY 267 1953
The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor
Norman E. Klipp at Greenport ' on Tuesday, May 26, 1953 .
The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the
following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry,
Albertson, Clark and Edwards ; Town Attorney Terry and
Town Clerk Booth.
A . John Gada and Elmore V. Kee, Commissioners of the Fishers
Island Ferry District were present at the meeting and -dis-
cussed at length matters pertaining to the aquisition of a
parcel of land together with buildings and dock at the foot
of John Street , located at New London, Conn. Also a parcel
of land together with buildings and dock located at Fort
H. G. Wright, also an airfield situated at Fishers Island
known as 'Elizabeth .Air Field ' together with the hangars
and buildings thereon. These parcels , buildings and docks
are the property of the united States Government. Also a f
parcel of land together with buildings and dock at the foot
of State Street located at New London, Conn. owned by the
Fishers Island Navigation Company. Matters pertaining to the
Fishers island Garbage and Refuse District were discussed.
They also wished to extend to Harold Price , Superintendent
of, Highways , Their grateful appreciation for the excellent
work he has done and is presently doing on the highways on
Fishers Island; They expressed their opinion that the highways
were never in a better condition than they are at the present
time, and felt that the Town Board should be informed of
the most commendable work of the lighway Superintendent.
Moved by Justice Clark: seconded by Justice Terry:
RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and
hereby are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry,
Clark, Albertson and Edwards.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson:
RESOLVED: .That the regular monthly Audit meeting of this
Board be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp
at Greenport on Tuesday, June 9, 1953 , at 1:30 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices ' Terry,
Albertson, Clark and Edwards.
Moved by Justice Edwards ; seconded by Justice Albertson:
WHEREAS , pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 368 of the
Laws 6f New York, 1953 , the Town Board on .April 21, 19539
duly adopted a resolution, subject to permissive referendum,
determining that the provisions of Article 13 of the Town
Law shall be applicable to the Fishers Island Garbage and
Refuse District , and
WHEREAS , said resolution was duly published and posted, and
WHEREAS , No petition protesting said resolution having been
presented within 30 days after its adoption, said resolution
became effective on May 21, 1953.
NOW, THEREFORE ' BE IT RESOLVED: That Raymond Doyen, James B.
Pickett , and Hizabeth McCloskey be and hereby are appointed
Commissioners of the Fishers island Garbage and Refuse Dis-
trict to serve until the 31st day of December , 1953 , in
accordance with Chapter 368 of the Laws of 1953.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry,
Albertson, Clark and Edwards.
