HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-12/09/1952 14 MEETING OF DECEMBER -9, 1952. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, December 9, 1952. The meet= ing was called to order at - 1::30 P.M. with the following present° ; Supervisor Klipp; Sustices Tuthill, Albertson and Clark; Town Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on Audit to examine claims against the Town concluding the Audit work at 2:00 P.M. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the previous meeting be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, .Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the annual Audit Meeting of ;.this Board be held at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport,on Tuesday, December 30, 1952, at 1:30 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Bond No. 0 5-521-066, issued by. the American Surety Company in the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1000.00) on behalf of Ralph P. Booth, be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, sum, manner of execution and sufficiency of surety therein. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, A 'Albertson and Clark. Moved by `justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: ,That Boad No. 2522933 , issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York, in the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1000.00) , on behalf of Harry H. Terry, be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, sum, manner of execution. and sufficiency mf surety therein. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Sup 't. of Highways Price; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS , the Governor and Legislature of the .State of New York have created a Temporary Highway Finance rlanning Commission to provide for the development of a modern highway system, and WHEREAS, we believe that the developement of such a modern highway system is of vital importance to all of the people of our state, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That we, the members of the Southold Town Board do herewith express to the said Commission our support of their effort to provide such a modern highway system, and BE IT FURTHER' RESOLVED: That we do also express our desire that the Governor and Legislature commence a program which will bring such modern highway sustem into being as soon as possible. Vote of Town Board: Ayes - Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson , Clark and Superintent of Highways Price. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: WHEREAS, pursuant to law, bids have been solicited for the collection and disposal of garbage and refuse for Fishers Island Garbage and Refuse District for the term of three years from January 1 , 1953 to December 31, 1955, and WHEREAS, N, B. King and Co. , Inc. of New London, Connecticut on November 25, 1952 did submit the lowest bid and in due conformance with the specifications and notice tQ &:ftdders and accompanied with a proposal bond in due form, now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the said N. B. King and Co. , MNC. of New London, Connecticut, be awarded the contract for the collection and disposal of garbage and refuse for Fishers Island Garbage and Refuse District for the term-of Three years - from January 17 1953 .,to December 31, 1955 at the agreed price of $12,800. per annum, and be it further RESOLVED, That the Southold Town Board enter into such contract. Vote of Town Board:: Ayes: - Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: WHEREAS, John P. Pickett of Fishers Island, New York, has agreed to lease to the Town of Southold approximately fourteen (14) acres of land known as Wilderness Point, Fishers Island, New York, for the disposal of- garbage and refuse by the Fishers Island Garbage and Refuse District for the term of one year beginning January 1 1953 , at the annual rent of Eight Hundred and Forty Dollars (4840.00) . NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That this Board enter into such a lease for said term and at above price. Vote of Town Board:: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justice Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice 'Tuthill: RESOLVED: That General Bills in the sum of $39676.249 Lighting District Bills in the sum of 0 19372.46, Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the sum of $7,427.04 be and the_ same are hereby ordered paid. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justice Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill:: RESOLVED: That the Police Report for the month of November be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.
