Albertson, at Greenport, N.Y. on Jume 27, 1961; at 3:00 P.M. with the following present`: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark; Supt. of Highways Price; Town Attorney Tasker and Town Clerk Richmond. _ Moved by Councilman Grathwohl; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That the minutes of the Special meeting of June 2, 1961, be and they hereby are duly approved. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That the nest regular monthly meeting of. the Town Board will be held at the office of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson, 16 South Street, Greenport, N.Y. on Tuesday, July 11, 1961, . at 3:00 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-;-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark; WHEREAS, James Mulvihill / Camp Momoweta Inc. has applied to the Town Board for a permit to establish a Camp Cottage Colony on their property located at Mattituck, New York, ' on the south side of Sound Avenue, NOW MHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That a public hearing will be held by the Southold Town Board at the Supervisor ' s Office, in Greenport, on Tuesday, July 11, 1961, at 7: 30 P.M. on the application of James Mulvihill, Camp -Momeweta Inc. , for a permit to operate a Camp Cottage Colony on their property in Mattituck, N.Y. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albeftson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. At 3: 30 P.M. 'in accordance with a notice published according to law, bids were .opened for proposals to furnish to the Town of Southold (65) 750x14 4-ply nylon tubeless automobile tires and ten (10) 7.50x14 4=ply nylon tubeless snow tires (or such number thereof as may be required) for poliee patrol cars for the period from June 1, 1961 to June 30, 1962. The. following bid was submitted: Southold G.L.F. Service Inc. - $20.39 per tire and $21 .63 per snow tire, trade-in allowance $1.00 per tire. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That the only bid received be placed in the hands of the Police Committee for it' s recommendation, the committee to report it' s decision later in the meeting. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by 'Councilman Grathwohl; RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester M. Albertson be and he hereby is author- ized- to hire a part time policeman (constable) for direction of. traffic at intersection of Youngs Avenue and Main Road,, -Southold, N.Y. for the sum- mer months of July aid August. Vote of Town Board: Ayes=Supervisor Albert- son; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by j7ustice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill; WHEREAS, James Mellas will have completed six months satisfactory service as Police PAtrolman (Constable) for the Town of Southold on July 1, 1961, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That effective as of July 1, 1961, the salary of James 'Mellas will be $19.50 per day. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. 2 Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl; WHEREAS, the Police Committee reported that the only bid on the tires for use on Police Patrol automobiles was submitted by Southold, Coop. GLF Serv- ice, Inc. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Lester M. Albertson, Supervisor-, be and he hereby is directed to enter into a contract with Southold Coop. GLF Service, Inc. for the .purchase of 65 7 .50x14 4-ply nylon tubeless automobile tires at $20.39 and 10 7 .50x14 4-ply nylon tubeless snow tires at $21.63 per snow tire, trade-in allowance $1.00 per tire or such number as may be required for police cars for the period from June 1, 1961 to ,:. June 30, 1962. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest .and , Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark; WHEREAS, the Mattituck Fire Department has applied to the Town Clerk -of the .Town of Southold for a Bingo License, and WHEREAS, the Town Board has examined the application and after. investig ating the matter duly made findings and determinations as required<-!, by, law, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and -directed to execute on behalf of this Board the findings and determinations required by law and it is further . RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to issue a Bingo License to the Mattituck Fire Department. Moved by -Councilman Grathwohl; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold- approves" the. recommen- dation of the Southold Planning Board for the location of a future. Airport site north of Oregon Road and west of Duck Pond Road, Cutchogue, N.Y. . Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl;Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS, Cedar Beach Association. applied to the Town Board for financial assistance in a dredging project at Cedar Beach, now, therefore, be it RESOLVED: That Supervisor Lester- M. Albertson be and -he hereby is. authorized by the Town Board to contribute up to but not .to exceed the sum of .$475 .00 toward the cost of dredging at Cedar Beach, Southold, New York. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; . seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS, the Board of. Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District are of the opinion that it is .in the best interests of the Fishers. Island Ferry District to employ a combination porter and automobile parking atten- dant for the Fishers Island Ferry District Pier, located at the foot of State Street, New London, Conn and WHEREAS, said combination porter and automobile parking attendant would,: be employed for a period from June 12,_ 1961 through September 16_, .1961, inclusive on the basis of a six day week, now, therefore, be it RESOLVED: That the Manager is hereby authorized to engage the services of Kenneth Kierstein of 141 Blydenburg Avenue, New London, Conn. for the pos- - ition of Porter and automobile parking Attendant effective as of June 12, 1961, and be it further RESOLVED: That compensation for such position shall be $50.00 per. week. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl; WHEREAS, the Gardiners Bay Estates Cltb, Inc. has applied for signs- reg- ulatingthe speed of boats in Spring Pond, East Marion, N.Y. NOW, THEREFORE, .BE IT RESOLVED: That the matter of regulating of speed of boats in Spring Pond be turned over to the Committee on Inland Waterways for it' s recommendation. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That all offices of the Town Clerk Building, Southold,. N.Y. .be closed. all day Saturdays during the months of July and August. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest; WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of- dais Board that it is the desire of some to have the County of Suffolk participate in the State Health Insurance Program for its employees, and WHEREAS, the members of this Board feel that the tax. payers of the County of Buffolk. must pay a portion of the premium on said insurance and WHEREAS, the Town Board of the Town of Southold .is of. the opinion that such expense should be borne by the employees rather than the .tax payers,_ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That this �Board ,,go on record as .not....approv- ing of said State Insurance PI&n.. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Clark; • WHEREAS, . the Town Board of the- Town of Southold has studied and. considered the request of the Long Island Railroad for the Town to assume. the. cost '.of maintenance of the Railroad Stations located within it' s boundary, and WHEREAS, the Town Board of the_'Town of ,Southold are of 'the opinion, that such an arrangement would not -be in the best interests of the people of the Town of Southold, NOW, .,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That . the Town Board of the .Town. of South- old does not wish to enter into such an agreement with said Long Island Railroad. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl; RESOLVED: That Supt. of. Highways Harold D. Price of the The Town of Southold be and he hereby is authorized to 'attend Supt. of Highway School at .Ithaca, New York on July 15-16-17, 1961,' and be it further RESOLVED: That the necessary expenses incurred while attending said school be a legal charge against the Town. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest; .RESOLVED: That Otto Anrig, Police Chief (Constable) of the Town of South- old, be and he hereby is authorized to attend Police School at Glenn' s Falls, New York, July 23 to July 29, 1961,. and be it further RESOLVED: That the necessary expmnses incurred while attending said school be a legal charge against the Town. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. It was decided by the Town Board to hold a joint meeting with the Planning Board and the Board of Appeals on July 19, 1961, at 7: 30 P.M. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded ,by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS, a petition was received from Guido Ciacia requesting a change of zone of certain property situated in Greenport, New York, and more fully described in said petition from "A" Residential and Agricultural District to "B" Business District, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk of ,the Town of South- old be and he hereby is directAd to transmit said petition to the Planning Board in accordance- with Section 901, Subdivision C of Article IX of the Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York. Kreh has applied' to the. Town Board for a' single trailer renewal permit dated June 26,, 1961,' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of James 'J. Kreh to locate a single trailer on his property at. Camp Mineola Road, Mattituck, New York, be and hereby is granted for a year round occupancy for a one year period., _.. ., Vote of Town Board: .Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilipen Demarest- and Grathwohl; Jutices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl; WHEREAS, John J. Klein, Sr . has applied to the Town Board for a single trailer renewal permit dated June 21, 1961, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application of John `J. Klein; Sr/ -to locate a single trailer on his property be and hereby is' granted for a year round occupancy for a one year period. The' Town Board dip-ected that the application 'of Judge Baron Hill. request- ing that roads on his property on Youngs Avenue be taken over by the' Tovan of Southold be returned to Attorney'Rensselaer G.' 'Terry fora more''complete description and map of roads and .drainage of ,same. Stanley Corwin appeared before the Board requesting permission from Supt. of Highways Price to lay a private sewer line along and across Moore' s Lane, Greenport, N.Y.
