The meeting was called to order at 3:00 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Grathwohl 'and Demarest; Juhtices Tuthill and Clark; Town Attorney Tasker; Supt. of -Highways Price and Town Clerk-Richmond. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark" RESOLVED: That the next regular monthly meeting of' the Town Board' will' be held at the office of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson at. 16 .South Street Greenport, N.Y. on Tues. , June 6, 1961, at 3:00 P.M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice .Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: .That the minutes of the. meeting of May 9, 1961; be and they hereby are duly approved. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: ' RESOLVED: That the application of Richard DePuy for a permit to locate a single trailer. on property of James P. Kelly, Southold, N.y. be and hereby is" denied and that the fee of $5 .00 which accompanied . the applic- ation be returned. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Grathwohl; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That the application of Gordon G. Bishop for a permit to lo_+cate a single trailer on the property of W. H. Housner, - Southold, N.Y., be and hereby is denied and that the fee of $5 .00 which accompanie . the applic,-.. ` ation be returned. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS, John Higgins has applied to the Town Board" for _a single trailer permit dated April 29; 1961, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDE That the application of John Higgins to locate a. single trailer on the property of Charles Sage be and hereby ti is granted for a year around occupancy for a one year period. The minimum side yard setback is 10 feet. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by ,Justice .Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS➢:1 The Southold American Legion GTG Post #803 has applied to the Town Clerk for a Bingo License and WfE REAS; the Town Board has examined the application and after invest- igating the matter duly made findings and determinations as required by law, now, therefore, . be it RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and directed V. to execute on behalf of ;this Board the findings and determinations re- quired by law, and be it further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to issue a Bingo License to the Southold American Legion GTG Post #803 . Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl;, WHEREAS, Southold Planning Board has prepared an official report and rec- .. ommendation upon the petition of Ralph and Wilson Glover as executors of the will of. Elmira Glover for a change of zone from "A" Residential and AGricultural District to "B" Business District on certain real prop- erty situtted in Southold, N.Y. , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That h public hearing will be held by the Southold Town Board at the Supervisor ' s Office, Greenport, N.Y. on Tuesday, June 6, 1961, at 7: 00 P.M. on the above mentioned petition and 4 4`2 that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is authorized and directed to cause a notice of said hearing to be published in the Suffolk Times, pursuant to the requirements of law. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Jutices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark: WHEREAS, the Board of Appeals has recommended that the filing fee In the sum of $15 .00 of Leffert Edson, Attorney, for Claudio Giovanelli. and Frederick L: Schultze' application to the Bard of Appeals be returned for the reason that said application was withdrawn by the applicant and no hearing 'or other action was taken by the Board of -Appeals on said application, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:. That Supervisor Lester M. Albertson be and he hereby is authorized and directed to return to Leffert Edson the sum of $15 .00 which accompanied the petition. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Councilman Demarest: WHEREAS, Chapter 68 of the Laws of' 1856 as amended by Chapter 825 of' the Laws of 1961, authorizes the Town Board of the Town of Southold at least 150" days prior to any biennial Town election, to adopt a resolution, sub- ject -to a permissive referendum, to change the term of office of Assessors of the Town of Southold from two years to four years, and WHEREAS, the Town Board believes that by increasing the term of office of the-Assessors to four years and providing for the election of three Assessors 'at each bienneal Town election, would be for the best interest of the Town, now therefore be it RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Southold, as follows: Section I . That from and after the thirty-first day of December, next succeeding, the term of office of the Assessors of the Town; of Southold,' shall be four years. At a biennial Town election next succeeding, three Assessors shall be elected for a term o f two years and three Assessors shall -be -elected for a term of four years, and thereafter at each biennial Town election there shall be elected three Assessors for a term of four years. SECTION 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately, and shall be subject to a permissive referendum. Albertson, , Supervisor, be and he hereby is authorized to enter into a contract for tanks and gas pumps with Peter Sholl for use by the Southold Town ' Highway and Southold Town Police. Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl; RESOLVED: That the report of the Auxiliary Police- for the month of April be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Councilman Demarest: RESOLVED: That Bond No. 73S-1555, issued by the Aetna Casualty and Surety Company in the name of Joseph Sawicki in the sum of $4, 000.00 be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution and suffic- iency of sureties therein. RESOLVED: That Bond No. 73S-1558, issued by the Aetna Casualty and Surety Company in the name of Robert Hulse in the Sum of $4, 000.00 be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, manner of execution. and sureties therein. Cutchogue-New .Suffolk Historical Council thanking the ,Board for the appropriation and for the interest of the Board in the Historical Council. 2 . Burton Potter Post #185 inviting the Town Board to participate in the Memorial Day parade. ., 3 . May 13 - Property owners of Knollwood Lane, Mattituck, asking repair of road be made at foot of Knollwood Lane. 4. May 23 - Knollwood Lane Property Owners signed by Mrs. . Esther Bassford thanking the Board for making the necessary repairs requested on May 13th. 5 . American Air Service, Inc. advising the Board that they are in poss- ession of Air Photos of the Town of Southold to supply to the Town. , The Supervisor will obtain further information on same . 6. John L. Barry, Commissioner of Public Welfare, inviting the Board to Open..House at the Suffolk Home and Infirmary on May 27th 7 . Southold Town Board of Appeals discussing 1. Lighting District Eastern Orient and 2. Griffin Street Extension, Cutchogue 8 . New York State Traffic Commission on speed, Depot Lane, Cutchogue,.. stating they are making a survey of same. r . 9. Senator Jacob Javitts relative to the reduction of Coast Guard. personnel at Fishers Island, New York. :Supervisor Albertson advised the Board that the resolution relating to improvements of existing federal channel at Hay Harbor, Fishers Island, was, passed by., the County Board of.. Supervisor,s..at. .the meeting of May 22nd.' Supervisor was directed to .pr-ocure estimates relative to extention .for bulkheading at Gull Pond. Adjournment was at 3: 30 P.M. Albert W.
