April 284� 1960 at the Town Clerk Offices-. Main Road,.. Southold,,.. New York. There were present: Messrs. Robert W. Gillispie�. Jr.,t Chairman,, Herbert Rosenberg and Charles Grigonist Jr.,. Absent: . Messrs. Robert Bergen and Serge Doyens Jr.. Also presents Mr.. Howard M. Terry** Building Inspector. Mr. Rodney QuartyA Southold, .New York#• appeared before the Board of 'Appeals for an informal discussion relative to the' reason he had been denied permission to build any size house he wished on his own property, MX, Quarty was advised that he had been granted a variance to use the undersized lot he had purchased with reduced frontage,*, however, he was denied permission to reduce the side yard setback.. Mr.. Quarty stated he would build the house the way he wants and will take the consequences. Southold Town Board of Appeals -»2- April 284_ 1960 Mr- William Cronk, west side Bowery Lane, Southold.,,, New York, appeared before the Board of Appeals for an informal dis-cussion with reference to the fencing of junk yards, On May 5,,_ 1959 the- Planning Board had forwarded letters to all junk dealers and garages with wrecks and abandoned cars in Southold Town and Mr. Cronk stated that he had not received this letter,, nor had he heard of such a letter. Mr. Cronk was shown a copy of the letter forwarded to him which appears in the Planning Board file. It was determined that Mr- Cronk has a hedge in the front of his property and stockade fence on the south side of his property and on the rear side is a growth of shrubbery,,. trees,, etc.,,, some of which have not yet reached maturityA_ and on the northerly side of the junk yard there is a planting of shrubbery between the junk yard and his residence and there is a garage building and hedge the balance of the distance to the street. Mr. Cronk stated that he has a New York State Junk Dealers License and he questioned the operation of all the other junk dealers in the Town of Southold relative to their operating without State permits. Mr. Frank Robinson Indian Neck Lane, Peconic,.. New York_ appeared with Mr. Cronk and voiced his objections to the junk dealers operating without a license and in violation of the Town Ordinance and regulations Mr... William Benjamin and Nor. Clifford Benjamin„ Greenport*, New York,, also appeared before the Board for an informal discussion with reference to the fencing of junk yards. They were agreeable to the requirement of planting a hedge.. Mr. Joseph Stepnoski also appeared before the Board with reference to fencing his ,junk yard. Mr. Stepnoski has been in the process of clearing the junk yard and agreed to fence across the front and sides. Mr. Gillispie and Mr. Rosenberg advised that they would visit the junk yards of Cronk and Stepnoski on Saturday, Mr. Julis Zebroskl appeared. on the abovementioned matter and stated he intended to put up a wooden fence to be covered on both sides with blakk tar paper as he intended to run cattle on one side and maintain his junk yard on the other side of the fence, A planting would not suffice for his needs.. Thomas Jurzenia called the office and requested that the hearing upon her application for a' special exception which was recessed from April 210- 1960 be further recessed for two additional weeks, The Board of Appeals set Thursday*, May 12, 1960 at 8:15 for the hearing. During her telephone conversation Mrs. Jurzenia advised she would like to add additional lettering approximately 20 ft- by 3 ft, to the top of the existing motel sign. Mr—Louis Komarke and Mr. Halsey Rackett.,,. representing the First' National Bank of Greenporto' appeared before the Board of Appeals with reference to a sign for the bank, A discussion was held at length relative to the merits of directional signs-#-. general advertising signs and certain specific signs and the Board of Appeals is of the opinion that a bank does not come under the classificationx according to their regulationsj, as being eligible for such a sign as being in the public interest_ On motion. .of Mr. Grigonis*_ seconded by Mr.. Rosenberg and carried, it was RESOLVED thatthe Southold Town Board of Appeals 'yet 7:30 P.M. #- Thursday,._ May 51 1960,0 at the Town Clerk Office Main' Road, Southold, New Yorks, as time and place for hearing upon application of William Victoria a/c Victoria�'s Cottages Bay View Roads Southold,_ New Yorks_ for a special exception in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, Article III,. Section 30011,, Subsection 11A for permission to erect and maintain a directional advertising sign on the land of Leander Glover,, south side of Middle Road#- Cutchogue,,. New York. North by Middle Road, east by-Grimm,- south by other land of Glover,. and west by Szawinski estate. Vote of the Board: Ayesz- Mr. GillispieA_ Mr. Rosenberg,k and Mr. Grigonis. It was further RESOLVED that the legal notice be published in the official newspaper under date of May 51 1960. Vote of the Board: Ayes:- Mr. Giillispie,, Mr. Rosenberg, and Mr, Grigonis..
