HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-07/14/1988-S 234 SOUTHOLD TOWN BOARD SPECIAL MEETING JULY 14, 1988 A Special Meeting of the Southold Town Board was held on Thursday, July 14,. 1988 at the Southold Town Hall, Main Road, Southold, New York. Supervisor Murph opened the meeting at 8: 0 A.M. Present: Supervisor Francis J. Murphy Justice Raymond W. Edwards Councilwoman Jean W. Cochran Councilman George L. Penny IV' Councilwoman Ruth D: Oliva Councilwoman Ellen M. Larsen Town Clerk. Judith T.. Terry Moved. by Supervisor Murphy, seconded by Councilwoman .Oliva, it was RESOLVED that pursuant to Article IX of the State Constitution and the Municipal Home. Rule Law the Southold Town Board hereby requests the enactment of Senate bill No. S . 9163,. entitled ."AN. ACT .to amend the Town Law, in- relation to authorizing the estab- lishment of open ,space preservation funds .by certain towns; and the tax law, in relation to authorizing the town. boards of the towns of Brookhaven, East Hampton, Southampton, Riverhead, Southold and Shelter Island to impose a real estate transfer tax with revenues therefrom to. be deposited in an open space preservation fund for the purpose of acquir- ing, administering, and managing rights or interests in real property for open space and park purposes." It 'is hereby declared that a necessity exists for the enactment of such legislation, and that the facts establishing such necessity are as follows: T Town Board does not. have, the power to enact such legislation by local law. Vote of .the Town ,Board: Ayes: Councilwoman Larsen, Councilwoman Oliva, Councilma Penny, Councilwoman Cochran, Justice Edwards, Supervisor Murphy. This 'resolutioh was declared duly ADOPTED. Moved. by Councilwoman Cochran, seconded by Councilwoman Oliva, it was RESOLVED that pursuant to Article IX of the State Constitution and the Municipal Home Rule .Law,. the Southold Town Board- hereby requests the enactment of Assembly bill No. A. 8600-B, ,entitled "AN .ACT to .amend the Town Law, in relation to authorizing the estab- lishment. of. open, .space preservation funds..by certain towns; and the tax law, in relation to .authorizing the town. boards of the towns of Brookhaven, East Hampton,. Moved by Supervisor Murphy, seconded by Councilwoman Larsen, it was RESOLVED that the Town Board hereby authorizes and directs the payment of $71, 856.00 to Warnock Fleet .8 Leasing for the purchase of six (6) 1988 Police Vehicles; said charge to be made against the General Fund - Part Town. Vote of .the Town Board : Ayes: Councilwoman Larsen, Councilwoman Oliva, Councilm. Penny., Councilwoman Cochran, Justice Edwards, Supervisor Murphy. This resolution was declared duly_ ADOPTED. .
